Ranthambore National Park
Located in Rajasthan, the Ranthambore National Park is a national park that covers an area of 1,334 square km. It has the Banas River in the north and the Chambal River in the south. The national park has been named after the historic Ranthambore Fort, which is situated within the park. It is famous for its population of Bengal tigers and is also home to more than 270 species of birds, including painted francolin, crested serpent eagle, and Indian paradise flycatcher.
Jim Corbett National Park
Located in Uttarakhand’s Nainital, the Jim Corbett National Park is the first national park in India. Established in 1936 during the British Raj, the park was to be included in the Project Tiger initiative. The park has sub-Himalayan belt geographical and ecological characteristics and houses around 110 tree species, 50 species of mammals, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species.
Bandhavgarh National Park
Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh has a tiger reserve in its current core area. It has a large biodiversity and has a large population of leopards along with various species of deer. It has tigers, 250 species of birds, 80 species of butterflies and several reptiles. Bandhavgarh has a very high density of tigers within its jungles and people go there in large numbers every year to get a glimpse of the Bengal Tiger for which the park is mostly famous.
Kanha National Park
This park in Madhya Pradesh inspired Rudyard Kipling for his classic ‘Jungle Book’. Over the years, the park has played a key role in saving numerous endangered wildlife species. It safeguards the exotic species of wildlife while taking several measures to preserve its flora, fauna and avifauna. One can see the Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, sloth bear, dhole and barasingha in the park.
Kaziranga National Park
The Kaziranga National Park in Assam is one of the most places of wildlife safari in India. It is mainly because the park hosts two-thirds of the Indian rhinoceroses on this planet, which is why it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Apart from having the largest population of the Indian rhinoceros, it is also home to wild water buffalo, eastern swamp deer, Indian elephants, sambar, gaur, chital, Indian boar and Indian hog deer. The park has the largest population of wild water buffalo on this planet.
