Farmers are being shared the technology for commercial use of natural fertilizers from agricultural waste.

According to the Agricultural Mechanization Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MoALI), farmers are being provided with techniques for the commercial use of natural fertilizers made of agricultural waste. This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for fertilizers in various regions.
Currently, the rising costs of agricultural inputs, including fertilizers, have led farmers to seek alternatives such as natural fertilizers. The department has reported that technology for producing natural fertilizers from agricultural waste is being shared with farmers to help them reduce the impact on agricultural lands and the natural environment.
“The Agricultural Mechanization Department has developed a method to produce high-quality compost using an air-blowing system, which farmers can utilize as a small-scale business. We plan to share this technique with MSME businesses as well as farmers,” said an official from the department.
This technique uses materials like straw, leaves, and cow dung as raw inputs. Initially, farmers in Tatkon, Lewe, Pyinmana, and Zabuthiri townships were introduced to this technology. Additionally, state and regional ministries, departments, and experts plan to provide techniques for producing natural fertilizers from kitchen waste and paddy husk ash fertilizers. — ASH/TMT
