New Delhi: An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-29 fighter plane crashed near the Uttarlai airbase in Barmer, Rajasthan. Upon receiving the information, police and administrative officials promptly arrived at the scene. According to reports, the pilot had ejected before the crash occurred. The crash took place away from any residential areas. The police said that the incident happened near the government school in Mananiyaon Ki Dhani. A Court of Inquiry as been ordered.
Pilot safe

Crash site cordoned-off
A large crowd of villagers gathered at the site. In response, the police have cordoned off the area and are not allowing anyone near it. Meanwhile, District Collector Nishant Jain and SP Narendra Singh Meena have confirmed the incident. SP Meena said, “The plane crashed tonight in Barmer, away from a populated area. Fire tenders have not yet reached the crash site due to the difficult terrain.”
On June 4, an IAF Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet crashed near Shirasgaon village in Niphad tehsil, Nashik, at around 1:20 pm. Both the pilot and co-pilot successfully ejected from the aircraft. Earlier in March, a Tejas aircraft crashed near Jaisalmer during a training exercise. The pilot ejected safely before the crash occurred.
