New Delhi: Bangladesh back their bowling attack to dismiss India twice in order to win Test matches as their two-match series begins in Chennai on Thursday.

The tourists have landed in India after their maiden Test series victory over Pakistan, winning away from home 2-0 and plan to repeat it in this series.

Bangladesh are yet to win a Test against India, getting beaten in 11 of the 13 matches so far, drawing the remaining two.

But after rewriting their 24-year Test history against Pakistan, their confidence knows no bounds though skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto insists they are prepared for another dawn.

“I think we played very good cricket against Pakistan, which gives us a lot of confidence. But, that is in the past,” he said during a pre-match media interaction on Wednesday.

“We are here to play a new series, and the dressing room believes we can play very good cricket. We are not thinking about the outcome, but just trying to follow our processes.”

Pace and spin

Bangladesh were well served by their bowling attack in Pakistan, with Nahid Rana catching the eye in the second Rawalpindi Test with a match-haul of five wickets.

Shanto said not only Rana, he expects the entire pace bowling unit to deliver at the Chepauk stadium from Thursday.

“Yes, he is very exciting, and the way he bowled against Pakistan is really impressive, looks very nice. But I will not put my entire focus on any individual player,” the 26-year-old captain said.

“I think all the fast bowlers did a great job in Pakistan. I hope they will do something good here.”

Not only pacers, Shanto insisted on havign quality spinners at his disposal too though India are traditional masters of spin.

“I think we have a very experienced spin-bowling attack. But I think in the last couple of years, we have had very good pace bowlers as well. I know they are not that experienced, but they are capable of doing. So, I am not thinking too much about spin or pace bowling.”
