Krishmar James from Howell Wilson Primary School emerged as the champion of the fourth annual Agri Bee, held as part of Agriculture Month celebrations in Region Ten.
The competition, hosted by the Department of Agriculture at LICHAS, promotes food security and agricultural innovation under the theme “Transforming Tomorrow, Championing Food Security through Innovation and Technology.”
Following James, Nathan Billey from Amelia’s Ward Primary took second place, while Andrew Piggot from Coomacka Primary secured third.
Regional Agriculture Officer Deryck Collins highlighted the importance of agriculture, stating that the competition not only tests spelling skills but also enhances knowledge of agriculture’s role in society.
Primary Education Officer Shevon Greene Brewster praised the participants, underscoring that each word spelled celebrates agriculture and connects the students to global food security efforts.
The week’s events will continue with a jeopardy challenge, a debate in memory of the late Aaron Lietch, and an open day for schools on October 22 at the Agriculture Office.
