Online environment agriculture classes to start soon at UC Davis – Daily Democrat

Grow your career in controlled environment agriculture with UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education’s online Controlled Environment Agriculture Program.

Taught by experienced UC Davis faculty and internationally recognized industry experts, the program provides foundational knowledge and skills to help you succeed. Featuring convenient asynchronous learning and a business-focused curriculum, the four-course program can be completed in as little as one year.

Courses are slated to begin Jan. 13.

Introduction to Controlled Environment Agriculture

Gain an understanding of the history of controlled environment agriculture (CEA), the range of employment opportunities, common business models, major processes of indoor farming, current technologies and the challenges and drivers of success in CEA businesses.

As a part of this course, students will develop a business plan that optimizes environmental conditions to maximize yield and profitability.

Plant Production and Indoor Farming Operations

Acquire the foundational knowledge and skills for planning and implementing indoor farming operations. Topics include plant physiology, plant nutrition, pest and disease management, nutrient management and environmental control systems.
