Mohali: Two days after the first consignment of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) was supplied in Mohali, the Chief Agriculture Officer on Wednesday inspected the fertiliser samples. Led by Dr Gurmel Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer, the team from Block Kharar on Wednesday conducted unannounced inspections of dealers of fertilisers, seeds, and pesticides to ensure farmers receive premium-quality products.
Chief Agriculture Officer Singh said, “To check the quality of the fertiliser supplied in Mohali district, samples were collected. We have zero tolerance to substandard and poor quality of the fertiliser.”
During the inspection, block agriculture officer Dr Shubhkaran Singh explicitly instructed dealers that any shopkeeper selling counterfeit or substandard agricultural materials would face stringent action. All documentation should be comprehensive, and no agricultural materials should be sold without proper licensing or addition, he added.
Recently, Mohali district received 850 metric tonnes of DAP fertiliser, and to verify its quality, samples were collected by Dr Gurdial Kumar, fertilizer inspector Kharar. “The total requirement of phosphatic fertilisers in the district is 7,763 metric tonnes, out of which 5,334 metric tonnes have been supplied so far,” said one official.
