Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde MUMBAI: Rapid Quick Hardener and M Sixty technology are being used for the immediate repair of potholes on the Thane-Nashik and Mumbai-Ahmedabad highways, and the work is in progress, chief minister Eknath Shinde said.
He directed the officers of National Highways, MSRD, Public Works, and Traffic Police Departments to complete this work immediately and relieve the citizens from the traffic jam.While giving instructions to work on a war level for the urgent repair of the Nashik-Bhiwandi road, he emphasised not wasting time in road repair work.
The Divisional Commissioner of Konkan should issue a consolidated notification for the regulation of heavy traffic during peak hours. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also directed that parking lots should be made along the highway for heavy vehicles.
At the Sahyadri guest house, CM Shinde chaired the meeting. Additional chief secretary to chief minister Dr. I. S. Chahal, principal secretary Brijesh Singh, Konkan divisional commissioner P. Velarasu, JNPT chairman Unmesh Wagh, Thane police commissioner Ashutosh Dumbre, Palghar collector Govind Bodkhe, Navi Mumbai municipal commissioner Kailas Shinde, CIDCO joint managing director Dilip Dhole, along with senior officials of national highways, MSRDC, public works, and transport departments were present. Collectors of Thane, Nashik, Raigad, Police Commissioner, and traffic police officers participated through the video communication system.
The Nashik-Bhiwandi road is in disrepair. This is causing problems for traffic.
The condition of the road has deteriorated during the rainy season. This is causing traffic jams and accidents. Chief minister Shinde has taken serious notice and has given instructions that the road repair work should be started immediately and done with good quality and fast speed.
Cases should be filed against those obstructing the repair work
The chief minister expressed strong displeasure regarding potholes on the Thane to Nashik and Thane to Ahmedabad highways. To provide immediate relief to the citizens from the problems caused by traffic jams, the systems should cover the potholes day and night. Modern technology should be used for that.
Rapid Quick Setting Hardener and M Sixty should be used while filling pits. CM said that if the potholes are filled immediately, the traffic congestion will be reduced and the citizens will get relief. Precast panels should be used where time is required to fill pits. The national highways management should take immediate action for this. The systems should work in coordination.
On this occasion, the chief minister also directed that cases should be filed against those obstructing the repair work. The chief minister said at this time that he will inspect the highway repair work tomorrow.
Control of heavy vehicles from JNPT
On the one hand, the chief minister also directed to increase the number of traffic wardens for traffic regulation while the process of filling potholes is going on. Heavy vehicles should be controlled from JNPT to regulate this heavy traffic so that heavy vehicles coming from JNPT do not add to the traffic jam. Collector Thane has been appointed as Nodal Officer for its coordination.
The chief minister also directed that the potholes on the highway leading from JNPT to Panvel, Pune, and Thane should be filled immediately. CM directed that CIDCO should provide 200 traffic wardens to Navi Mumbai Police to regulate the traffic coming from Navi Mumbai, Panvel, and JNPT areas, and JNPT should provide cranes required for heavy vehicles.
CM also directed to create parking lots at Sonale, Padgha, and Asangaon on the Nashik highway for parking heavy vehicles. The chief minister directed the Konkan Divisional Commissioner to issue a combined notification regarding the suspension of heavy traffic between 7 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 11 pm. He gave instructions that necessary repairs should be done, including filling pits, drains, etc., and the progress of this work should be reviewed daily.
