In a significant move to enhance connectivity between Meerut and the Capital, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has launched the Meerut South RRTS station for passenger use as of Sunday (August 18). This new 8-km section brings the total operational length of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor to 42 km, connecting nine stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut.

The introduction of Namo Bharat train services from Meerut South will drastically reduce travel time to Sahibabad, now achievable in just 30 minutes compared to the previous 1.5 to two hours.

RRTS makes Meerut foray

Meerut South station will act as the main entry point to Meerut, benefiting commuters from Mohiuddinpur, Bhudbaral, Bahadurpur, Aminagar, Chhajjupur, Kharkhoda, Kadarabad, and surrounding areas with its new operations.

What’s the standard class fare of Namo Bharat? 

Officials have announced that the one-way discounted standard class fare on the Namo Bharat train will be Rs 110 from Sahibabad to Meerut South and Rs 90 from Ghaziabad to Meerut South.

What are the timings of Namo Bharat? 

The Namo Bharat trains will operate from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM throughout the entire route. The first train from both Sahibabad and Meerut South will depart at 6:00 AM, with the final departure at 10:00 PM.

Over 50% of RRTS corridor now operational

At present, 42 kilometers of the RRTS corridor, extending from Sahibabad, is operational. The entire 82-kilometer Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is anticipated to be fully operational by June 2025, as reported by NCRTC officials.
