Minister of Social Affairs reviews agricultural cooperative union progress

SANA’A August 20. 2024 (Saba) – Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Samir Baja’ala on Tuesday visited the Agricultural Cooperative Union today to assess its progress and activities.

The visit included a meeting with key figures from the Union, including Acting Chairman Mubarak al-Qaili and Secretary-General Eng. Mohammed al-Qahoum, to discuss strategies for improving cooperative efforts.

Minister Baja’ala emphasized the importance of integrating efforts across various ministries, including Social Affairs, Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, as well as the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee.

He called for a unified approach to enhance the performance of agricultural cooperatives, address operational challenges, and complete the establishment of Union branches in underserved governorates.

The Acting Chairman highlighted the need for a unified work plan aligned with national priorities to advance cooperative efforts. Secretary-General Al-Qahoum underscored the Union’s commitment to national priorities—food, medicine, and clothing—and the importance of agricultural cooperatives in achieving sustainable development and self-sufficiency.
