A Major Boost for Agriculture

The Jharkhand government is set to offer a major relief to farmers by distributing around 4,000 tractors under the “Chief Minister’s Tractor Distribution Scheme” during the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26. The initiative, led by the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperation, will provide 80% subsidy to the beneficiaries, aiming to empower farmers with essential resources for better farming productivity. This significant step is expected to strengthen the state’s agricultural sector and enhance the overall yield of the farmers.

Distribution of Large and Small Tractors

According to the order issued by the Department of Agriculture, 2,450 large tractors and 1,550 small tractors will be distributed under the scheme. Along with these, over 1,000 agricultural tools will also be given out, benefiting both individual farmers and agricultural groups. The government will invest approximately ₹150 crore in this project, making it a key initiative to boost the farming infrastructure in Jharkhand.

Tractors with 34 to 40 Horsepower

The tractors being distributed by the government will have an engine capacity of 34 to 40 horsepower. Along with these tractors, farmers will also receive two agricultural tools. The total cost of this tractor package will be ₹10 lakh, with a maximum subsidy of 50% for large tractors. Additionally, the two agricultural tools will be subsidized up to 80%, and the government will provide a maximum subsidy of ₹5 lakh to each beneficiary. For farmer groups that already own large tractors but need additional agricultural tools, a subsidy of 80% will be provided, with a maximum subsidy of ₹2 lakh.

GPS-Equipped Tractors

The tractors distributed under this scheme will be equipped with GPS (Global Positioning System) technology. Through GPS, the location, operational distance, and farming area details of the tractors will be tracked and monitored online. This GPS feature will help in the effective evaluation and monitoring of tractor usage, ensuring transparency and efficient farming practices.

This initiative is expected to provide a significant boost to farmers, enabling them to access modern agricultural tools and technology. It will not only benefit individual farmers but also enhance the agricultural framework of Jharkhand, leading to increased productivity and sustainable growth.
