The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Party (ADC), Derek Izodonmwen, has unveiled his manifesto with a pledge to industrialize the state’s economy through revitalization of agriculture.

The manifesto tagged RAIISE, is expected to focus on (Rural Revitalization, Agriculture, Industrialization, Infrastructure, Security and Excellence).

Izedonmwen recalled that as a young man during the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) of former military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, he witnessed firsthand the potentials of agriculture, when he followed his mother from Benin to the farm at the small town of Ologbo.

He reiterated his unshakeable commitment to the people of Edo State and pleaded with them to go back to the land and reverse the high cost of basic foodstuffs.

Besides, he promised that if elected, he would massively invest in the rural areas for the benefit of Edo people to grow a bigger pie, which he insisted is fast shrinking.

The APC governorship candidate accused the state government of grabbing over 70,000 hectares of choice land from different communities for the purpose of agriculture, which is shared among top politicians and big businesses for the purpose of palm plantations, vowing to democratize prosperity in order to grow a bigger Edo pie.

He restated his determination to transform Edo into a dynamic hub of economic development and innovation, where the government and the people unite to harness agricultural, mineral, and human resources.

“My mission is to instill a culture of efficiency, responsiveness, and entrepreneurial spirit, ensuring the well-being and prosperity of all citizens”, Izodonmwen added.

He deplored crony capitalism, which he alleged is the hallmark of Governor Obaseki, through the signing of several dubious Memoranda of Understanding (MoU), just as he took a swipe at the ruling APC, saying that the party has brought untold hardship upon millions of Nigerians, who can now barely feed.

Specifically, Izedonmwen, described the candidate of the APC, Senator Monday Okpebholo as a puppet of political puppet masters, advising the people to refuse the major parties in favour of the ADC.

“APC has brought suffering upon Nigerians. We don’t want the failed policies of APC to be foisted on us through an incompetent candidate who is just a puppet of political puppets masters”, he said.

On his part, the state chairman of ADC, Kennedy Odion, vowed that the party will not tolerate the buying of votes, saying that all the votes cast in the election will be counted by the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) capturing machine.

“Don’t let anybody tell you that the results will be written from Abuja. If your finger print is not recognized by the machine, your face will be recognized and where any of them is not recognized, that means you will not vote”, he said.
