Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai has written a letter to Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav. In this letter, Rai has requested the Union Environment Minister to convene a meeting to discuss the sources of pollution in neighbouring states and to develop an integrated strategy with the cooperation of these neighboring states ahead of the winter season.

Rai has urged the central government to take strong action by facilitating collaboration between Delhi and its neighbouring states to address cross-border sources of pollution. He mentioned in the letter that despite the efforts of the Delhi government and some improvement in air quality, the air remains hazardous due to factors beyond the state’s control, including stubble burning, thermal power plants, brick kilns, diesel generators, non-electric vehicles, and industrial emissions. Neighbouring states must also pay attention to this issue and take timely measures.

Rai has requested the Union Environment Minister to give a suitable date and time as per convenience” to discuss these issue and to make common strategy to combat this hazard”
