Taiz – Saba:
A meeting in Taiz Governorate today, chaired by the Deputy Governor for Development Affairs, Abdulwas’ al-Shamsi, discussed activities to expand the cultivation of solid and neglected lands in the districts of Maqbanah and Jabal Habashy.
The meeting reviewed interventions related to updating data on irrigated farmers and directing agricultural areas that are planted periodically to prioritize crop cultivation.
Participants emphasized the importance of focusing on the cultivation of corn and legumes during the upcoming season, activating contract farming, existing cooperatives, and agricultural offices in the districts and enhancing coordination between agricultural entities, cooperatives, and development partners in the districts.
They stressed the need to activate community participation to implement economically viable agricultural projects and to harness all available resources to create ongoing agricultural development momentum.
They urged the activation of field survey activities in the two districts through development riders, updating data, training cooperative staff, activating intercropping and cultivating available solid lands that have irrigation sources, as well as enhancing agricultural extension activities, field schools, and contributing to providing seeds and diesel as loans for farmers through cooperatives.
