NASHIK: The water level of the Godavari river in Nashik city receded to some extent after the intensity of rains reduced on Sunday morning.
On Saturday late night, the water level of the Godavari river had increased to the neck level of the iconic ‘Dutondya Maruti idol’, a marker used to measure flood levels.

However, the water level reduced to the belly of the Dutondya Maruti idol after the rains slowed down on Sunday morning.
The city received 50 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours between 8.30 a.m. on Saturday and 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the light rains continued in the city on Sunday morning.
The IMD has issued an orange alert with extremely heavy rainfall in isolated ghat areas and moderate rains in plains in Nashik district for the next two days on Monday and Tuesday.
Traders operating along the riverbanks had relocated their kiosks to safer places after the rains on Saturday.
