India on Wednesday reacted to the conflict between Israel and Iran. Issuing a statement, the Centre said it was deeply concerned at the escalation of tensions in the region.

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday reacted to the conflict between Israel and Iran and said that it was deeply concerned at the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. Issuing a statement, the government stressed the importance of not letting the conflict take “a wider regional dimension”. Earlier in the day, it also issued an advisory to Indian nationals in Iran to exercise caution.
“We are deeply concerned at the escalation of the security situation in West Asia and reiterate our call for restraint by all concerned and protection of civilians,” the MEA said in a statement. It added, “It is important that the conflict doesn’t take a wider regional dimension and we urge that all issues be addressed through dialogue and diplomacy.”

India issues advisory for its citizens in Iran
Meanwhile, issuing an advisory for Indian nationals in Iran, the MEA said, “we are closely monitoring the recent escalation in security situation in Iran. It added, “Indian nationals are advised are advised to avoid all non-essential travel in Iran. Those currently residing in Iran are requested to remain vigilant and stay in contact with the Indian embassy in Tehran.”
Indian Embassy in Israel issues advisory
Earlier on Tuesday, the Indian Embassy in Israel issued an advisory for Indian nationals amid the tensions in the Middle East . In its advisory, the embassy asked all nationals to remain on alert and be safe. It urged the Indian nationals to stay vigilant and remain on necessary safety protocols as advised by the local officials.
“Please exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel within the country and stay close to safety shelters. The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and remains in regular touch with the Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of all our nationals,” the Indian embassy advisory had said.
