The Katsina State Government has announced plans to commence the second phase of the Danja Dam project, aimed at expanding irrigation infrastructure to enhance agricultural productivity in the region.
Governor Dikko Radda, who is also the Chairman of the North West Governors’ Forum, revealed that the project will focus on irrigation farming due to the state’s abundant arable land.
Speaking at the launch of an empowerment package on Sunday in Katsina, Radda emphasised his administration’s commitment to agriculture and food security, stating that irrigation farming would be prioritised.
Radda’s media aide, Isah Migdad, quoted him as saying, “Our administration recognises the agricultural potential of Danja and its surrounding communities.
“The second phase of the Danja Dam project will prioritise irrigation development to support our dedicated farming communities and enhance their productivity.”
He further emphasised the importance of irrigation farming in food production and job creation.
