WEST ALLIS — At the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair, held from Aug. 1-11, Lafayette County was well represented. Many local families traveled to Milwaukee to showcase their hard work and agricultural projects with the dream of making the Governors Blue Ribbon Auction. There are only 30 auction lots and three of those lots were Lafayette County families that made the auction.

To ensure Lafayette County kids who win and sell their animals at the State Fair Auction receive strong bids, a group of Lafayette County families and businesses formed the “Lafayette County Blue Ribbon Buying Group”. The goal of the group is help support the dedication of these young people and the great family effort put into earning this prestigious honor. This is the Buying Group’s third year as an active participant in the auction.
The purchased animals were processed and donated to local food pantries (Argyle, Darlington and Shullsburg) to complete the full circle of giving back to the local community in a meaningful way. In December, the Blue Ribbon Group will host a special thank-you luncheon for the businesses and families who supported these efforts.
