Taking to X, the IAF said, “The pilot is safe and no loss of life or property was reported. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered.”
Earlier, Barmer Superintendent of Police Narendra Meena also confirmed the incident.
“The plane crashed tonight in Barmer. The incident happened away from a populated area,” PTI quoted the SP as saying.
The SP said that fire tenders have not been able to reach the crash site due to difficult terrain.
In a similar incident in June, a Sukhoi fighter plane had crashed at a farm in Niphad taluka of Nashik district.
The pilot and the co-pilot ejected well in time and fortunately escaped with only minor injuries.
