RRTS-Delhi Metro Connectivity: NCRTC and DMRC launch integrated QR-ticketing system for seamless travel – Infrastructure News

8

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday (August 22) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to introduce an integrated QR-ticketing system. This new system will allow passengers to book QR code tickets for both Namo Bharat and Delhi Metro services using a single platform.

The initiative aligns with the ‘One India – One Ticket’ goal, aiming to provide seamless travel across Delhi-NCR. According to the statement, passengers booking Namo Bharat train tickets via the RRTS Connect app will also have the option to purchase Delhi Metro tickets simultaneously. Conversely, those using the DMRC app can add a Namo Bharat train ticket to their metro booking.

This development is expected to streamline operations at both NCRTC and DMRC stations, reduce queues, save time, and promote digital transactions and eco-friendly travel options.

“This collaboration will generate unique Delhi metro QR codes on the RRTS connect app and Namo Bharat QR codes on the DMRC mobile app, significantly enhancing the passenger experience,” the statement said.

Connecting different modes of transport under PM GatiShakti National Master Plan

This initiative supports the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, which aims for seamless connectivity between different modes of transport. The RRTS stations are strategically placed near existing railway stations, metro stations, and bus depots, creating an extensive transport network.

By consolidating ticketing apps for NCRTC and DMRC, the project encourages greater use of rail-based transportation and supports sustainable travel within Delhi-NCR.

Delhi to Meerut in less than a hour

Currently, the 42 km RRTS corridor connects with the 393 km DMRC network. This integration is expected to boost public transportation usage, crucial for increasing ridership and ensuring the sustainability of these capital-intensive projects.

The high-speed Namo Bharat trains, operating at speeds of up to 160 km/h, will cut travel time within the region by up to one-third. Upon completion of the full 82 km corridor by 2025, passengers will be able to travel between Delhi and Meerut in under an hour.
