Aug. 17 marked the return of an old event

The Stettler and District Agricultural Society hosted a bench show on Aug. 17.

Held in conjunction with Open Farm Days, the bench show highlighted the Alpaca.

This was the first bench show held in Stettler in decades.

“Our intent with bringing back the Bench Show was to highlight the talent of so many local Albertans!” said Alana Weaver, one of the event’s organizers.

“We had so many great items brought in to be judged from baking and sewing to photography and art.”

Some areas, like horticultural entries and junior items, were low but were a start for the agricultural society to build on in 2025.

In 2025, the bench fair is being moved to be held in conjunction with the Stettler County Fair and Rodeo.

The bench fair was open to the public beginning at 10 a.m. at the Stettler Agriplex, and ran until 5 p.m.

A central Alberta produce brought Alpacas to display and for those needing food, there was a couple of barbecue options.
