When Team India tours Australia later this year for the Border-Gavaskar Series 2024-25, all eyes will be on the Indian batsmen. This time India will have a golden opportunity to win the Border-Gavaskar series for the third time in a row, but for that the team will have to deal with the tough challenge of host Australia. After 1991-1992, the Indian team will play a 5-match series against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar series for the first time. In such a situation, a tough competition will be expected between the two teams.

Meanwhile, former Australian coach John Buchanan has made a big statement about this series. John Buchanan believes that India’s chances of completing a hat-trick of Test series wins in Australia will depend on how Team India’s batsmen face Australia’s fast bowlers.

A lot will depend on the top order

Buchanan, who was the coach of the Australian cricket team during its golden era, said that both India and Australia have a lot of old players in their teams, but this will not create any problem in the competition between the two teams. Buchanan told PTI that after losing to India in the last series, Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh have also joined Australia’s fast bowling attack along with off-spinner Nathan Lyon. He admitted that this is a very strong bowling lineup.

He admitted that Team India will have to depend on the top order to score big against Australia. He said that Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer will have to bat well to score big. Also, fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj will have to prove their ability.

There will be a competition between teams with strong pace attack

He further said that in terms of age, there are some old players in the Indian team, in which Rohit is 37 and Kohli is 35 years old. Ravichandran Ashwin is also 37 years old. If you look at the Australian team, only one or two players will be found above 30 years of age. In such a situation, there will be a competition between the two teams with excellent fast bowling attacks, in which the result will depend on how the top order batsmen of both the teams perform.
